Serbian Armed Forces

At Rujnička kosa training ground near Niš, the professional crew of Mixed Artillery Brigade of the Army is undergoing training in the operation of self-propelled howitzers NORA, 155 mm B/52 M 15.

The training is carried out with the aim of maintaining a high level of competence of the members of the artillery units to provide fire support to the maneuver forces of the Serbian Armed Forces during operations.

During the training, the crew consisting of the section commander, gunner, driver of a motor vehicle and two gun crewmen mainly practice actions in the expected area, marching, occupying and leaving the firing position.

The deputy commander of the self-propelled howitzer battery, Captain Stevan Todorović, pointed out that Nora self-propelled howitzer is characterized by "higher mobility, faster occupying and leaving the firing position, better precision when engaging the target and a reduced number of crew members as compared to the previous, classic artillery".

— Nora is armed with a 155 mm gun, as the basic weapon. There is also a 20 mm M-55 gun, a 12.7 mm M-87 machine gun and a smoke grenade launcher - said Captain Todorović, emphasizing that Nora is a fully automated system which, in addition to high accuracy of fire action, is characterized by faster data processing and digitization of the operational procedure.

Sergeant Nemanja Popović, the gunner of the self-propelled howitzer, emphasized that the work he performs is very conscientious and responsible.

— The difference in comparison to towed howitzers is faster operation, shorter time of occupying a firing position, faster data transmission, better accuracy and firing range, entailing quick and efficient target engagement — said Sergeant Popović.
